Opening BETA

We are glad to launch the 2018 edition of BETA in the same space as the biennial’s main event, the On Housing Exhibition.

The evening will consist of small presentations about the program and exhibition from the organizers, the curatorial team and the partners, as well as three experimented artistical entities and a great team to coordinate the event. This edition’s theme becomes a pretext to built a rather informal and intimate space, panoptic and free of any preconceived ideas.

Mud Boulevard

A return to the primordial, through civilization, a playground for children of all ages, a swamp where various musical genres have been thrown. With all the tools at their disposal, the musicians come forth with a positive tone, aiming to combine the natural and the cultural, through a militant message left in suspension, where the spleen, joy and dance are linked into a well-defined product. Just as puzzle pieces, the band members assume anonimity.

Karpov not Kasparov

Currently one of the most exported bands from Eastern Europe, Karpov not Kasparov started creating music based on chess rules and strategies. It may seem complicated, but the result is always dancy. There are a few classical alusions, with a lot of oriental flavours (chess being an oriental game), that Edi and Valeriu bring to the forefront and which make one’s thoughts drift towards theatre or ballet. They are frequently called upon to sonically amplify the message of films or plays, directors opting for their positive and contagious atmosphere.

Working hard and dilligently with electronic intruments, digital and analogic synthesizers, to hide himself as good as possible behind his music.
