ARound the City

In the European Year of Heritage, the French Institute and the German Cultural Center Timişoara, are preparing an innovative application to revitalize important history places in Timişoara. ARound the city app will use augmented reality (AR) a 2.0 experience in discovery of heritage. The project is being run in 3 cities in Romania – Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara, being initiated and supported by the French-German Cultural Fund, through the French Institute in Romania and Goethe Institute Bucuresti. At the local level, it is coordinated by the Timisoara French Institute and the Timisoara German Cultural Center, in partnership with the Banat Association.

The application is developed by IT specialists and cultural actors. In Timişoara, the organizers want to involve the community in the creation of the content and reflect on the purpose of the application, as a result of a workshop held by heritage professionals (6-7 October).

Following the workshop, a demo version of the application will be presented at the Timisoara Architecture Biennial on October 24 at 18:30 at the D’arc Café . The presentation of the demo will be accompanied by an artistic moment with the Simultan association.
